Pre-Assembled Press-fit Connectors

If the objective is fast realisation of reliable and gas-tight connections without soldering or complex processes, using Pre-Assembled Press-Fit Connectors is the de facto standard solution. The UNIPRESS family of solutions is our answer to the industries need for tools and machines that support multiple types of Pre-Assembled Press-Fit Connectors from different manufacturers and to place these connectors in every thinkable lay-out.

Single Pin Press-Fit

Single Pin Press-Fit is a core competence of Föhrenbach Application Tooling. Our experience goes back to the 80's with the insertion of single pin press-fit contacts into backplanes for the telecom industry. To achieve a virtually error-free process, we developed special algorithms to avoid missing pins or pin pattern errors. Since then, we refined, adapted, and reinvented our concepts using the latest software and mechanical insights to serve a wide range of industries.

Crimp To Wire

Crimping connectors to stranded wires is an easy, efficient, and proven technology. The tools used to crimp connectors to wires greatly determine the quality and reliability of the interconnection. Our hand tools and mini applicators for stamped and formed contacts, turned contacts and ferule crimp, are masterpieces of precision mechanical design. Each solution is carefully tested in our lab to make sure that the wires and connector are perfectly cold formed together whilst avoiding sharp edges that could cut the outer strands.

IDC Flat cable

IDC (Insulation-Displacement Contact) connectors, sometimes referred to as IPC (Insulation-Piercing Contact) connectors are ideally suited for interconnections using flat or ribbon cables. Föhrenbach Application Tooling developed a modular concept to attach virtually all types of IDC Flat Cable connectors. No matter how small the pitch, fitted with the right adapter, our tools, presses and customer tailored fully automated machines will make reliable and gas-tight connections. Integrated QC systems can be added to the solution.

IDC Discrete Wire

To make a connection to a single or discrete wire, IDC connectors are a fast and cost-effective way, perfectly suited for both manual low-volume and semi-automatic mass-production of interconnections. The designs of our Pistol-grip hand tools and Semi-automatic cable terminators are the result of decades of experience in supplying IDC solutions to our customers. To help you with prototyping, limited volumes and repairs, dedicated IDC repair tools are available.

Direct Attach

Direct attach is the preferred technology for high-speed interconnections, typically used in the IT industry and data centres. To guarantee the required bandwidth of the link and reduce jitter, connections are made by hot-soldering cables directly to the printed circuit boards inside SFP+, QSFP, Infiniband, Densishield, CXP and many other types of connectors. Typically, our solutions can cover the full application process: Cable prep, Cable termination and Post processing. Föhrenbach Direct Attach machines can also be adapted for Hot-bar soldering of Flexible Circuits.
